Thatched roof shed
Pavilion in Bali, Indonesia

Entry pavilion of a park in Bali, Indonesia.
Project is a simple shed that combines and juxtaposes the anodized steel frame and a traditional Balinese ‘alang-alang’ thatched roof. It can host a market stand, a kiosk and possibly any other function in the future. The heat-insulating hand-woven roof structure offers protection against Bali’s tropical rains and intense sun. Functionally, metal V - frame is used to make a bigger span and programmatically flexible open structure, that lasts long in harsh tropical weather. From conceptual and aesthetical points of view, the project underlines the contrast of globally available industrial materials and local vernacular techniques.
Project is built in collaboration with Legato Sports Architecture.
